The specialized business of Bible proofreading was begun by Mildred and Frederick Tripp, who first began proofreading Bibles for Oxford University Press. Mildred developed a unique method of recording the text, then proofing from the tape recording. As her reputation for accuracy grew, other Bible publishers began to use the Tripps' service and their business expanded. Upon their retirement in the mid-1980s, they sold the business to Doug and June Gunden, who are the current owners.
